Finding the Mount Tibberoowuccum trailhead is the hardest part of the whole walk. The mountain itself is a short, rewarding climb with wide views and very few other people on the track. But the start is unmarked, there is no dedicated car park, and nothing on the road tells you that you have arrived. Most people either drive straight past or give up and head to Ngungun instead.

Why the Trailhead Is So Hard to Find
Unlike most walks in the Glass House Mountains, Tibberoowuccum has no dedicated car park, no signage at the road, and no formal track entry point. The path starts from a fire trail off a public road, and the only marker at the entrance is a pile of rocks, or cairn, that blends into the surroundings.
Google Maps and most GPS apps will not get you to the trailhead directly. They will take you to the general area, but the last 200 metres is a walk down a quiet road that the map does not flag as significant. Read this guide before you go, not on the way there.
Where to Park
Park at the Mount Tibrogargan car park. The address is off Barrs Road, Glass House Mountains, QLD 4518. Search for “Mount Tibrogargan car park” in Google Maps and it will bring you to the right place. There is a small sealed car park with roadside overflow on busy days.
This car park is shared between Tibrogargan walkers and Tibberoowuccum walkers, plus anyone using the Trachyte Circuit. It is small and fills fast on weekends, so arrive early. There are no toilets at the car park, so sort that before you leave the Glass House Mountains township.

Step by Step: How to Get to the Trailhead
Follow these steps from the car park and you will find it.
Step 1. From the car park, walk back out to Marshs Road. This is the sealed road that runs along the base of the peaks.
Step 2. Turn left onto Marshs Road and walk along the road. Keep Tibrogargan on your right as you go.
Step 3. After roughly 200 metres you will see a fire trail or rough track opening on your left. Look for a pile of rocks, a cairn, at the entrance. That is the trailhead.
Step 4. If you reach the steep, bare rock face of Mount Tibrogargan directly in front of you, you have gone too far. Turn back and look for the cairn on your left.
Step 5. Once you spot the cairn and the path leading into the bush, you are at the start. The track ahead is narrow but walkable. Follow it uphill from here.
Getting There from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast
From Brisbane, allow around an hour driving north on the Bruce Highway. Take the Glass House Mountains exit and follow the signs through the township. The Tibrogargan car park is a few kilometres from the village centre.
From the central Sunshine Coast, Caloundra is around 30 minutes away. From Maroochydore, allow 40 to 45 minutes. The Glass House Mountains are well signposted from the Bruce Highway once you are in the right area.
What to Know Once You Are on the Track
There is no signage on the track itself once you leave Marshs Road. The path is narrow and reasonably well worn, but in a few places it blurs into the surrounding bush. If you lose it, stop and look for the clearest line of travel through the vegetation rather than pushing through. The track always trends uphill.
There is a false summit about halfway up that looks convincing. Keep going past it. The real top comes shortly after, with a short steep scramble of a few metres to reach the highest point.
